Who We Are

Copthorne Chasers is a road and trail running club based in Copthorne, Crawley. We run regular club nights offering different paces, technical sessions and our members and leadership attend varied races and events.

Welfare

Member Welfare and Safeguarding sits at the top of our priorities. Two committee positions are dedicated Club Welfare Officers, trained to England Athletics standards

Run Leaders

Each of our club night groups are led by an England Athletics trained, affiliated and insured Run Leader

Coaches

Our club Coaches are responsible for the Club's technical sessions and programmes. Our coaches are England Athletics trained, affiliated and insured.

Members

Our members are from many walks of life and run at a variety of speeds, paces and distances. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive club for all runners.

What we do

Paced Club Nights

We meet Mondays and Wednesdays, often in Copthorne, but also in the surrounding areas. We typically run between 5km and 10km (depending on the paced group) on a variety of terrain (trail, road, pavement and track). All groups are led by experienced England Athletics Run Leaders

Technical Sessions

We become stronger runners by implementing technical work into our club nights. At Copthorne Chasers this includes hill sessions, intervals and more, always put together and led by a qualified England Athletics Run Coach.

Events

Our members and leaders take part in many events, often supporting one another for upcoming races across a variety of terrains and distances. Members at the club regularly compete in races from 5km up to ultra-marathon distances.

Meet our Core Team

Copthorne Chasers is run behind the scenes entirely by a team of volunteers who have a shared vision to foster a vibrant and inclusive community of runners who support and motivate each other. Here are the people behind our core committee positions.

Helen

Chairperson

Helen is an EA Run Leader and the Chair of Copthorne Chasers Running Club. While she’s always been a runner, joining a club deepened her passion. She’s completed three London Marathons, with 2018 standing out as it was in memory of her dad.
A keen parkrunner, Helen has completed the A-Z challenge and run in six countries. Her go-to gear includes 2XU leggings and ASICS trainers.

Sarah

Treasurer

Sarah is an EA Run Leader and Coach with nearly eight years of running experience. Her favourite race is the Beachy Head Marathon, and she’s proud of her ongoing run streak since September 30, 2018. She enjoys trail running and exploring the countryside.

Lauraine

Secretary

Lauraine is an EA Run Leader and Coach with a passion for distance running. She’s completed one ultra, two marathons, about ten half marathons, and numerous 10Ks. She’s a dedicated parkrunner with over 100 events under her belt and runs in Asics Noosa Tri 14s for speed and Saucony Ride 18s for distance

Paul

Membership Secretary

Paul is an EA Run Leader who began running in his 40s, eventually completing his first marathon just before 50. He finds running clears his mind, especially in nature.
His favourite event was the Disney Marathon in Florida, and he prefers ASICS Nimbus for their cushioned ride.

Chris

Welfare Officer

Chris is an EA Run Leader who began running seriously after joining a club three years ago. He’s since progressed to half marathons and completed his first marathon last year, running 2,024 miles in 2024.

Chris runs exclusively in Altras for their comfort and injury prevention and is a big advocate of zone 2 running.

Alison

Welfare Officer

Ali is an EA Run Leader with 25 years of running experience. Her favorite race was the UTMB in Switzerland, and she has fond memories of the 2012 London Marathon. She’s driven by challenges and plans to finish an ultra this year.

Ali’s favourite shoes are Saucony Endorphin Speed Pros.
